The foundation of my religious tradition, ethic, and moral life is grounded by one dominant influence: Charismatic/Pentecostal Christianity. I formally identify as Christian+ as an acknowledgment of my integrated faith practices.
My lived experience as a Black woman influences my interpretation of Christian theology and dogma as well as my personal ethics regarding gender, race, sexuality, and hegemony. I am a spirit-guided lay practitioner whose work is influenced by multiple methodologies and peer mentored by respective elders of those systems. These include indigenous African practices, ancestral veneration, conjure, and divination systems.
While I do hold it as sacred, I do not believe the Bible to be inerrant or infallible – nor do I believe it is exhaustive of humanity’s experiences of God. I’m not a biblical literalist and I have a low Christology – meaning that I am more focused with understanding the lessons of Jesus’ humanity than the miracle of his divinity.
