Trappin Out da Pedagogical Bando: My Life as a Public Intellectual
The potency of your crack depends on the ratio specs of your cocaine to sodium bicarbonate. And your profit margin depends on that same ratio.
You can sell a lot of dollar rocks or you can cook up the crack til yo shit taste like ribs and have niggas stealing out they crib to buy your supply.
And you can sell uncut cocaine at a higher cost but maybe slower or lower returns.
And that’s how I produce knowledge as a public intellectual, pure, uncut, and with diminishing dividends when the distribution confuses their assignment in the production process.
My Bando been these Meta algorithms where My shit is stronger than the market can handle. Now the customer keeps buying it and then getting mad that it did exactly what strong shit does.
I could “cut” the intellectual product—simplify it, soften it, make it more immediately digestible, reduce the density, remove some of the structural analysis—and potentially create something easier for a larger number of people to consume.
But that would be a different product. And I keep my shit pure for customer retention. Luxury only goes on sale in the aftermarket. Chanel only goes up on the price, and never no in-boutique basement bargaining. You might get lucky in Saks off Fifth or EBay. But the boutique price is what it is. Just like my public intellectual work.
- The Scholarship Is the Product, Baby — The distinction between access to knowledge and access to the scholar.
- You Bought the Shit; Now Think — Why cognitive discomfort is not a customer-service complaint.
- Supply Accounts & Reply Accounts — Who produces knowledge, who circulates it, and who mistakes engagement for production.
- Don’t Call the Dealer About the High — The public intellectual’s obligation ends somewhere before litigating every reader’s misunderstanding.
- The Algorithm Is the Feds — Platform incentives, surveillance, legibility, and the economics of public thought.
Everybody Can’t Work the Stove — Expertise, formation, and why “accessible” does not mean everybody occupies the same role in knowledge production.
I make rigorous thought publicly accessible without promising that accessibility will make the thought easy.
The customer can dislike the intellectual experience. They can disagree with the argument. They can critique the methodology. They can decide they don’t want any more of Passuh Dany’s high-potency cultural analysis.
All legitimate.
But “this made me uncomfortable, therefore you produced it incorrectly” misunderstands the product.
I ain’t selling ideological reassurance. I’m selling cognitive disruption — and I ain’t weakening my product for y’all who just want baking soda to settle your upset stomach and indigestion when my potency hits yo emotional support allies whites.
